    Nixon: Laos and Cambodia.

Somehow Ford managed not to start any wars.

I'm as big a Democrat as anyone here, but these posts are a crude distortion of history. Flatout wars and significant US military actions have taken place in every administration in my lifetime except Ike's. G.W. Bush (with bipartisan congressional approval) did indeed start the Iraq War. That's about it. He didn't start the Afghan War, 9/11 did that. Bush I did not start the Persian Gulf War. Bill Clinton was the lead actor in NATO's intervention in the Balkans. Obama let Britain and France take him along for the Libyan intervention, to his discredit and sorrow. Reagan deserves credit for remembering the sunk cost fallacy after the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut and getting the hell out of there. The problem with US foreign policy isn't so much that presidents start wars, it's that they are unwilling/unable to end them because of fear of the political consequences. We've been in Afghanistan for 15 years. A good rule of thumb is that if you can't win a war in about half that time, you never will.

I said the last three Republican presidents. The last three Democratic presidents were/are Carter, Clinton and Obama. What war did Carter start?

I think Carter's biggest military moment as president was the botched hostage rescue in Iran.

Paul Ryan Says It “Doesn’t Matter” When Trump Lies on Twitter. That’s Garbage.

"Even now, the president-elect’s words are more than mere words. Trump no longer speaks as a private citizen when he howls at the moon. Instead, his statements carry sovereign meaning and will be treated that way, regardless of the medium and regardless of what his followers choose to believe. It’s not just the media that cares: Litigants, activists, and government officials will almost certainly quote his utterances as evidence of his true intentions, plans, and views about the law. Foreign leaders will hear his threats and promises, and take them as pronouncements of intent. People who admire him will strive to act in his name and joyfully pursue his perceived agenda, pressed on by his words. That is terrifying. And those who fear his words will seek to obstruct what they understand to be the half-baked and dangerous ideas reflected in these comments. This should not be a complicated concept. It is something we teach our kindergartners: Words are signifiers of a person’s purposes and beliefs, and words have consequences. Paul Ryan, take note."

Wouldn't that require him to attend the briefings? Oh yeah ...
