Unfortunately, the media is playing their role all too well.

Trump's wrestling tweet was goofy and tasteless, but it is hard for me to see how it will drive someone to violence who wasn't already 99-point-infinity percent there already.

Sounds reasonable. What would the number be if we went to single payer?

Saw a story last week that GPs were asking to be allowed to refuse surgeries because of the work load. One of the problems (just because I have to push back on you because, well, I do) is that doctors aren't willing to work weekends. Not that they have to work 7 days a week but maybe have some work a Wednesday to Sunday schedule to open up space.

The UK also has a problem with an ever increasing population, which the US is seeing too.

What the Brits are showing is that there's no magic bullet for healthcare. Single payer still seems like a good idea so we can get more people on healthcare so we avoid people going to ERs and racking up bills they can't pay. There is a compromise to be had, however, that can do better than throwing more than 20 million off of insurance.

The compromise is to create a national catastrophic care pool that ensures no one goes bankrupt from an illness/injury, and an additional program for chronic illnesses (diabetes, etc).

We don't need to pay for every trip to the doc for the flu, etc.

OK, now no one ever buys health insurance because it's a bad deal if you are just using it to pay for the small stuff.
