    That's beyond dumb. Everybody gets sick sooner or later. And medical care costs, a lot. When I broke my wrist two years ago, which could happen to anyone as an accident, the cost of the operation was a cool 15 grand. I have Medicare. Most folks don't have that kind of money in their budgets. Also, if you get in an accident and the cops find you're not insured, as the other guy will, you have a damn fine chance of losing your car.

    They are acting like they think there is no chance of that ever happening.

    Intentions are not outcomes. We got saddled with the ACA in the first place, because anyone who had the temerity to point out what the actual outcomes were likely to be (based on every bit of empircally-accumulated experience) was shouted down with outright lies that they knew were lies (like your doctor, keep your doctor; going to lower premiums and increase services ), and was demonized (they are evil; don't care as much about everyone's well being). This thread is a microcosm of that sometimes.
