Kurt lied about Trump, and his supporters -- again -- got called on it, and had to retract his lie:

Why would they boo John Glenn? He was never captured.

He was a Democrat and Trump supporters seem kind of tribal.

Trump prefers astronauts that don't fall out of orbit.

You have a very broad definition of "lie."

I just saw a link to this. I found it entertaining in a "train wreck TV" kind of way.

For me, the big deal isn't whether or not Russia was behind Podesta's e-mails -- although if you are going to go on a campaign where you keep trying to turn it into a sweeping "Russia rigged our election" statement of fact, you should have to know for sure that Russia did what you are alleging.

The part to me that has had me shaking my head -- during the campaign too -- is that the e-mails that were released were REAL by all accounts.

Every time during the campaign when Clinton did her "the Russians" pivot, as if the word "Russia" or "Putin" should be something that automatically gets people to ignore what they are seeing and take the focus off of her, all I was thinking was, "And? Are the e-mails real?" I imagine that is what a lot of people were wondering. The e-mails were public. Once I saw them, did it matter how they had gotten public?

It would be one thing if Russia is rigging the actual election results. But even if you can prove a systematic effort to paint public opinion on their part -- and it very well may be the case -- the people complaining about those e-mails, are saying that the Russians tainted our elections. ... by releasing the truth. That just makes no sense on any honest level.

As far as propaganda campaigns designed to influence Americans opinions go, if you take it a step further with the "fake news" poliburo now springing into action. ... if you don't like it, do a better job of countering it. We live in a free society. The antidote to the free flow of information (which includes the possibility of people disseminating false information) is not Big Brother censoring society -- if that is the goal. It's for people to be responsible for filtering things themselves. It's paternalistic and insulting to have this tact of, "People are too stupid to know what is real, so we need to do something!" It's precisely the rationale for Big Brother.
