Yah, yah. The brilliant Founders also didn't allow women to vote, permitted slavery, and only counted them annoying neegro-people as 3/5 of a person, so let's go back to those glorious days.

Oh yeah and you know something else the soooper genius Founders did? They designed an election system in which the Vice President would likely be a bitter political rival of the President, most likely the leading opposition candidate in the previous election, and would thus have a direct incentive to overthrow or kill the President. Yeah, real infallible geniuses.

 

Sounds like fun. I can't wait until the producers edit the footage and get this episode on the air.

Oh, I wouldn't put the word "good" within 10 miles of that compromise. But it is pretty amusing when liberals go the "3/5ths route" ... they, even the #trulybrilliant (e.g., @Starman), never can remember who was on which side during its fashioning.

The far better of two options?

 

A better option would have been to count them as 1 and free them, but that would have deprived those good hard workin suthern biznessmen of all their hard earned property.

 

Once that gets in, the next adjustment will be that only those who own a hundred acres or more will be able to vote for state legislators.

 

Good would have been abolishing slavery at the jump. You can say that it made a horrible situation very slightly less so, but you can't call it a good thing. That's like saying at least we got Schindler's List out of the Holocaust.
