The doctrine of massive retaliation/mutually assured destruction was laid out quite clearly over decades to a much more powerfully armed adversary than the Hermit Kingdom. That this is the first time (stipulated) such has been openly articulated vis-a-vis the nutjobs in DPK shouldn't be especially troubling in and of itself. It's who's doing the ... ahem ... articulating that's a bit skeevy.

Yep. Like I said earlier, the bratty teen-ager popped off while skulking away. Trump had it won.
And the dumb shit couldn't help himself.

Has to have the last word.

    You keep saying bluster.

This is a country that's fired multiple test launches, with increased success. Their latest showed that they have the capacity to reach our shores. \

Today's news is that they now have the ability to arm a missile with a nuclear warhead.

If threats -- and capabilities -- continue, a pre-emptive strike will be necessary. It's certainly a better option than a retaliatory strike.

It's completely rational, and I would expect the same regardless of who are president was.

He threatened retaliation in response to further bluster, not in response to an attack. To bluster.

    Read the Bowden piece.

This looked pretty clearly like threatening preemptive first strike, not retaliation or MAD.

    That's what he did today.

He was calm, and rational. It's the big stick that has everyone worried.

So, we should wait until he attacks? Is that what you're advocating?

Anybody else getting an ad for a bug-out bag in the middle of that piece? Or just me?

    LOL.

The former did not happen today. Hopefully the latter never has to be used.
