It's been about 12 hours. A response could be in planning as we speak.

    Too soon to say.

I know you want me to consider Trump a failure, but what if he's a success?

The post hoc explanation today seems relatively reasonable: Kim doesn't understand diplomatic language, so Trump had to put things in terms that he might understand.

But the thing is, Trump should not be going off half-cocked on his own. Ever. Someone needs to explain to him that it might be his bag on the campaign trail, but not while governing, when his word salad could have consequences.

It's not that I want you to consider Trump a failure. Obviously you don't. But he doesn't have to be a failure in order for you to vote for another Republican. The fact that you didn't immediately answer "Trump" indicates that you don't consider him the flawless statesman that you evince here during this extended thought experiment.

All of them. Haven't you heard? Diplomacy is for pussies. I'm sure YF will be signing up for the Army any day now.

A lot of folks voted for Trump precisely because he would behave this way with folks like Kim.

It's not like we didn't know who he was.

People voted for a different approach.

    I'm well aware.

No. He doesn't have to be a failure for me to vote for someone else.

But, if he's incredibly successful, why would I want change.

Kasich is a conventional politician. Let's see how unconventional plays out.

He said make "any more" threats. That means what they were already doing will be considered a threat, not a new provocation.

    Nice try, though.

You're right. Because that's *still* not the most important technical hurdle for successfully making an ICBM nuclear strike.

I wonder what percentage of idiotic decisions in world history have been made by people who buy into the logic "X didn't work, this isn't X, therefore we should try it."

    Calling him "unconventional" is misdirection.

My problem isn't that Trump is "unconventional."

It's that he's an idiot, and he has been a public idiot for four decades.
