I also think that conservatives need to do everything in their power to distance themselves from Trump and the alt-right at this point, because people are starting to believe that all conservatives are the alt-right. Simply not the case. That said, I'd like to see some Democratic rebuke of Antifa at this point, because it's not helping anyone's cause.

I think there are examples of college students who did want to take down statutes of founding fathers who were slave owners. That's going to be the talking point.

 

They're gonna go with WhatAbout Antifa? It worked for Hitler in the 30s, no reason to take it out of the playbook. Some WhatAbout BLM too, but they don't wanna lean on it too heavily since it calls attention to the fact that white nationalists were able to parade around in full military gear while 12-year-old black kids get shot for playing with toys.
