He is an idiot. Expecting him to comprehend an infliction like CTE is beyond reason.

I'm actually a little surprised. wasn't the Mara family big in the pro-life movement?

I remember around 1991 or so, they put out a pro-life video called "Champions for Life."

Edit, the video was made in the 1986/87 season.

One other point. What the players do, is in, fact, a job. It pays them well, and gives them a lot of glory, albeit with a major physical price. The fact that Trump and Co. believe it's a privilege for the players to work that job when in reality they are only there to have their talents exploited for profit speaks volumes about them.

I think you do the sentiment a disservice when you try to create equivalencies between athletes and people in other jobs. Or even try to explain why someone deserves what they earn based on the requirements of the job -- as you subjectively see it.

The notion that is a "privilege" to earn millions of dollars competing in football is meant to suggest that they are being given something. As if they don't deserve it.

It's crap. They earn millions of dollars because the NFL generates a lot of money, and those players are the best in the world -- people pay a lot of money to watch those players. Nobody is giving anyone charity in this equation. They earn every penny.

It's like everything else. Those players aren't stealing what they earn, and they certainly have no reason to have to apologize for earning it. If you really have a problem with it, don't watch football. If enough people felt that way, the billions of dollars of annual income wouldn't be there, and the players wouldn't earn that kind of money. Coincidentally, the owners of the teams wouldn't have the "privilege" of any profits they take in.

Of course. it's the same with anything in a demand-driven world.

What is classic Trump is that he referred to players making "beautiful tackles". Like he uses that word for everything.

He said, "I was briefly in the NFL."
