Who cares? Do you regularly print what a cop thinks in the heat of the moment as fact, despite what we learn afterwards?

It's not about semantics. It's about reporters being factual.

So, it wasn't an automatic weapon, but the gunfire was automatic? Is that your argument?

    You guys are funny. Honestly.

This is a tragedy. And, folks will try to politicize this, and will make policy proposals based on this event.

And, so when you intentionally use language that is not accurate, it's either because you don't care about the facts, or because you want to obscure the facts, in the hope that you can better effect political change by misreporting them.

Yeah. It's total bullshit when people take tragic events and make policy proposals based on it.

Now about that Muslim ban ....

Right. So, law abiding folks would be IMPACTED, which is the case with current gun laws in gun control states. So, the difference would be a matter of degree.

But, the folks who wanted to get around the local laws wouldn't have to try too hard.

That is not an argument against it.

It would be a matter of degree to the folks who abide by, and respect the law.

Might not be an argument against it, but I don't know how it makes it better.

Illegal guns would still cross state borders with ease.

Of fucking course it's a political issue. The entire fucking point of politics is that people figured out a few dozen millenia ago that banding together to solve problems worked better than everyone working on their own. And "how do we not get killed by violence" the first issue they needed to address.

How to slow down the rate of citizens being killed by violence is the most fundamental political problem at all. Anyone saying "don't politicize this" is just saying "This is inconvenient to what I want, please just go away."

Why do we have any laws, since all laws are broken?

You ever hear that "Journalism is the first rough draft of history"?

This was another catastrophic situation. First reports are the rough draft of the rough draft. Get it? Mistakes are not intentional, but they will be made while getting information to the public quickly. Mistakes are then corrected, clarified or retracted in subsequent reports.

And one way or another, that was automatic gunfire. Dozens are dead. ... And you want to crucify reporters? Get real.

I've been posting the same thing since the night of. If you can't grasp it, I don't know what else to say.

    The gunfire was automatic.

But continue your celebratory touchdown dance.
