No. He's doing what every President has done. He's clearly stating that he will match Russia dollar for dollar, weapon for weapon.

    This is silly.

The conventional wisdom is that Trump is Putin's poodle, and that the Baltic states should be worried about our commitment to them, despite their membership in NATO.

So, here is an example of Trump countering Trump, and folks are still in meltdown mode.

If within 24 hours, you've argued that Trump is Putin's puppy dog, and that he's going to get us in a nuclear arms race, you can't be taken seriously.

Whew! Until you did that, I was worried about you!

On Edit: Wait a minute! You said bitchy! You homophobe! I condemn such!

He tweeted virtually the same thing as Putin within a few hours.

He's a poodle puppy rolling over on his back for a rub on the tummy. He's Putin's bitch and so is the entire United States.

Is it homophobic, misogynist, or both, if you say a gay man acted bitchy?

"No artist should be forced ..."

What if the artist is a photographer? Who photographs weddings?

    Word.

We've already got enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world several times over.

But what this country really needs to be great again is more nuclear weapons.

It's time for NBA players and franchises to start fucking with the Knicks.

Refuse to play the national anthem before games against New York.

    Yes. And they're old.

It's not just the quantity of the weapons. The quality matters too.

Kellyanne Conway was on MSNBC last night and said this: "What he’s saying is — what he’s saying is, we need to expand our nuclear capability, really our nuclear readiness, our capability to be ready for those who also have nuclear weapons."

And, again, the bigger thing here is the message to Putin that if this is the road he wants to go down, then we will match him.

I'm not sure what the preferred alternative for the left is. If Putin had said he was going to increase his nukes, and Trump didn't say something similar, the left wold criticize him for not standing up to Putin, and would issue dire warning for what it means for the Baltic states, and our willingness to defend them.

So, please, let me know how you think Trump should have responded.
