I'm convinced that all the donor class cares about is the estate tax and the corporate tax. They've spent the last 20 years building toward this moment. Most of these guys are old men who believe they've amassed great wealth via their own merit and, thus, are sickened by the thought that the government will confiscate half. The coalition they've built includes a faction in the upper/upper-middle classes that want that top marginal tax rate reduced, a faction of social conservatives, a faction of special business interests whose priority is deregulation, and a faction of uneducated working class who think their paychecks have stagnated or shrunk because of taxation and immigration, along with (vastly) smaller factions of straight up racists, gun nuts, authoritarians, homophobes, nostalgia addicts, etc. As for the donor class, though, I really don't know how much they care about creating an authentic, stable conservative governance structure. Guns, religion, even healthcare, all are just means to a political end. What they really want is three lines in the tax code that, in one stroke of the pen, will keep tens of billions of dollars combined in the family.

It's why the whole establishment is standing by Trump no matter how big of an ass he makes out of himself. Shoot, if you really think about it, Trump might end up being the most useful idiot of them all, because all of his shenanigans distract the opposition from focusing on the one or two issues that they really care about. If Pence was president, Dems might not have anything better to do than focus the national conversation on the Estate Tax Issue, and that would only hurt its cause. Right now, it seems to me that the average American's understanding of the estate tax is, "The government takes half of your shit when you die," and the natural conclusion by a rational person operating on that understanding is, "Well, that's kind of fucked up. Maybe we should repeal it."

The more debate about the subject, the more chance there is for some of those voters to conclude, "Well, if the top 1 percent keeps gaining a higher percentage of the pie, and they get to keep 100 percent of that money forever, eventually won't there come a day when the top 1 percent have all of the money in the economy and the rest of us are forced to work for subsistence level wages because the moneyed few who fund the jobs can dictate their price due to a lack of competition?"

Negative, that's not Photoshopped. He'd have eliminated all those gray hairs from his stubble if he had that software.

But that is a very alt-right looking haircut!!!

Dems are certainly energized. More than wildest expectations. Are there enough of them in Bama to matter? I have no idea.

Moore is such an awful person. A bigot. But last night’s Trump ass-kicking will likely energize his base, too.

Can’t imagine how many political ads will be flooding TVs there.
