Many, many lawyers don't know the difference, and several federal circuits have adopted "pled" as the preferred past tense for "plead."

You and your copy editors are correct, but it won't be too much longer before "pled" is acceptable under all legal writing style guides. I have one judge I have appeared in front of frequently who gives me grief about my instance on using "pleaded."

I think that really is defense, that if he or Flynn is guilty, Clinton must also be guilty.

After 30 years and all these investigations, it seems to me Clinton is either not guilty, the greatest criminal mastermind who ever lived, or Republicans suck at investigating.
