Lots of things that were once "required" may fall by the wayside very soon.

I take small solace in the fact that they failed today in their first attempt.

Don't former presidents usually attend the inauguration of their successors?

Not always. John Adams left town rather than watch Jefferson get sworn in, let alone escort him to the ceremony. Carter doesn't come to these things, I think. But Bill Clinton's never gonna pass up a chance to schmooze.

And Hillary might get close enough to use a poison dart on Trump and Pence.

I wish the media dumbshits would stop already with describing what happened with the ethics office as "Trump strong-arming the House" or "...after President-elect Trump criticized the move."

He didn't criticize the move. He criticized the timing of the move. He even agreed with their basic premise for taking the action.

And the dickless people who secret-voted for it got flooded with calls from angry constituents (remember them?) and watchdog groups from both sides of the aisle. That's why they reversed course.

The WSJ is the only one I've seen so far that has reported it right:

Meeting behind closed doors on Tuesday, House Republicans unanimously decided to scrap their effort to place the independent Office of Congressional Ethics under the oversight of the House Ethics Committee, a move that would leave lawmakers policing themselves. That move, announced late Monday night, drew swift pushback from government-watchdog groups, Democrats and some Republicans, who heard from angry constituents about the proposal.

President-elect Donald Trump, in tweets Tuesday mornings, questioned the timing of the move over other congressional priorities.

Interesting that the House GOP didn't count on public backlash to their gut job ...

Or she'll do a fine job of transitioning into this generation's version of Barbara Walters by doing celebrity and political interviews, draw enough eyeballs (and, more importantly, advertisers) to keep the shows afloat and earn her very handsome salary.

    Time will tell.

I thought I'd heard Carter is coming to Trump's inauguration.

    Constituents "call."

Trump "blasts" or "slams." Those are worth more points, apparently. Even if he did no such thing.
