    Nah, it was the messaging.

"Schumer shutdown" rolls right off the tongue and they let the GOP repeat it endlessly with very little blowback.

They really needed to just repeat "You guys are in charge," endlessly.

Character witness? Seems a bit loose with the characterization of that ad.

A majority of voters - on both sides - support letting them stay. This is a nonpartisan issue to everybody but those in Congress.

A majority aren’t determined to throw them out of the country.

But voters don’t see it as a priority, which is why the Dems caved.

Donald Trump could very well win re-election in 2020 but that won't change the historical legacy of his elevation to the presidency and his subsequent administration.

Someone with zero experience in government and an absurdly checkered resume won the presidency on a tidal wave of colossal lies, birtherism and Russian interference. He never once displayed even a basic grasp of policy either international or domestic. He is in thrall to Fox News like many in his demo group. He relentlessly bullies Dems and Republicans alike, publicly. He lavishly praises the vile Vladimir Putin while ripping our allies.

He has set incredibly dangerous precedents of lack of transparency (not releasing his tax returns), conflicts of interest (not divesting from his companies), nepotism (giving BOTH his unqualified son-in-law and daughter WH jobs). All future presidents can throw around the Trump precedent to repeat these misdeeds.

His "victories" thus far are all of the generic GOP he supposedly ran against. His populism is as fake as his university. His swamp draining has been non-existent.

The Trump base is so in thrall to him that they accept all sorts of vexing things like his pay off to a porn star he had a sexual affair with while married to current wife. They don't care he had five children by three different women (including one born out wedlock). They don't care (or don't know) how much he golfs. They believe he is 6 foot 3 and weighs 239 pounds. They believe he cares about them.

No amount of votes will erase these facts.

Dems are blowing it. As much as DACA is the right thing to do, I cannot make that the rallying cry for opposing the Republicans. How about saying "let's go back to genuine leadership that doesn't demonize people, respects people, doesn't sexually assault people?" That's why there have been surprising victories in the special elections in 2017 yet nationally, the Dems don't make that pitch on a national scale. Wake up DNC!!

Speaking of Trump’s populism, is his trip to Davos back on now?

There’s an opportunity for the Democrats with Trumpism in full swing. I doubt they have the leadership to do it. Hell, we in the GOP couldn’t stop and now his most vocal critics are now some of his defenders.

But YankeeFan is happy about it if he can use it to declare a victory for the Republicans because that means more to him than the good of the country.
