I would disagree with this. He has always been a kook. I have an acquaintance in the business that was asked to be his communications guy during his campaign. He laughed when he told me and said "that moron will never get elected". This guy was a strong conservative (or what used to be a strong conservative prior to the crazy of today) and he wanted no part of Ron. After he won, my buddy sheepishly admitted he really missed the boat. He married into a very wealthy family and assumed a position in their company, he is not a very sharp guy. We call him Sen Sunspots, he is not a particularly smart/intellectually curious man.

This is a Congress where Devin Nunes (another farmer's son) got an intelligence chairmanship despite having no military experience or no experience in the intelligence community.
Johnson's accounting background and reputed self-starter skills look pretty good in comparison.
I want to say this is just dirty tricks and not abject stupidity, but maybe Johnson really does believe a fifth column in the FBI would openly identify itself.
I was raised to respect the institutions in this country ("I am an FBI AGENT!") and the horseplay over the last two days is some of the worst shit I've seen.
