    I mean this with zero snark, but I think you are significantly underestimating the situation in North Korea. There are many reasons to believe that the administration is seriously considering a pre-emptive "limited strike" on North Korean targets, aka the "bloody nose" strategy. There is also much reason to believe that it is a dangerous strategy that would likely result in significant casualties in South Korea, for starters. (And as Michael Gee points out, South Korea is home to 250K Americans, including 40K military.) And things could get bad in a hurry.

    I absolutely believe Trump was trying to provide added justification in case they decide to launch the strike. The "they hate Christians" angle is part of that, and a relatively new thrust.
