"All politicians are bad so really is it that bad?" is a classic propaganda technique, and it's lazy bullshit.

 

It's really that bad. System is broken. Everybody's on the take from someone. Everyone owes favors to someone. Everyone spends an inordinate amount of time trying to stay in their cushy positions.

Secretly, we all know it. But admitting, "You know, this government we've held as an example to humanity for decades really doesn't work properly" is quite unpleasant. "After all, other places are worse, amirite?" Looking in the mirror in general often is quite unpleasant.
