I was working at a newspaper in the D.C. area when the 2001 anthrax attacks happened. We were sent several packages of "white powder" and our mail was normally routed through the U.S. Postal Service mail processing center where several postal workers were fatally exposed. Freaked me out, even though the reporter who opened at least one of the packages immediately was joking about it being sugar.
