Ever read about Hoover's annual testimony re: the FBI budget? Every year he'd sit there and talk about how much positive cash flow the FBI generated. Said cash flow was the fruit of three trees: 1) Fines levied on lawbreakers caught by the FBI; 2) property recovered by the FBI; and 3) what he called "savings."

Wonder what these "savings" might be? He required every agent to work (or at least report) X hours of unpaid overtime per week. These "savings" conveniently enabled him to report the FBI as being worth more than it cost, and thus argue for a thus-and-such percent increase in its budget every year.

 

I'm continuously amazed about the "unforced errors" of this administration. You would figure by now they would accept they suck at covering things up, that they can't trust everyone to stick with the script (the Big Boss especially). This Porter thing is just the latest.
