We don’t know what Trump himself or members of his campaign did with Russia. That is for the most part true at this point. But there are a number of very important questions which are unanswered.

The original sin, as I written here multiple times, is the murky financial situation of Trump, as evidenced by his refusal to release his tax records.

His son in law’s financial situation seems even more complex than his and there is considerable evidence that they are desperate for foreign investment. Manafort is obviously dirty but we don’t know what worked its way up to Trump.

There is his strange reluctance to enforce the Russian sanctions or say a word critical of Putin. Part of this can be his stubbornness in admitting that his election was tainted but who knows.

It is clear that the Russian government tried to pass along information to the Trump family/campaign but we don’t know to what extent they actually accepted this information or whether they were simply naive.
