My grandfather suffered from dementia in his final years. He was OK during the day, but was bad at night. We’d taken the keys to his gun safe, but one night a cop called my mother and said a neighbor heard a shot. They visited him, he claimed he shot at a burglar - which was unlikely. Cops told mom to take his hidden pistol or they’d have to arrest him - that would be the only way they could do it.

 

We're talking about the survivors of the school shooting, but not that one.
