I was talking to a friend at church who is a high school teacher. He said he never expected to be asked if he was willing to die for his students. He said the natural reaction was "Yeah, I'll risk my life to save the kids." Then he thought about his own two kids and fell down the hypothetical rabbit hole of how sacrificing himself for his students affect his own children. I could tell by his expression that he didn't have the answer. Then he said "They never told us we were expected to take a bullet for a kid when I was getting licensed. Now we are."

 

Fair enough.

 

Seems FLOTUS is a fan of the Parkland kids.

That's probably the real answer for most teachers. They don't know what they would do and they certainly didn't expect to have to answer that question.
