It's quite literally not, as we did see in LA and in New Orleans.

And, with the vulnerabilities in our electrical grid, we could be plunged into chaos more easily than we might think.

We also do need to realize that the changes we make now, will be with us 200 years from now. People scoff at the idea of citizens needing to be armed to protect against a tyrannical government, but we don't know where the future will take us.

Fuck, on one hand, I'm being told that Trump is a authoritarian, and there was even talk on the left, about how they needed to acquire guns. But, now, because of this latest shooting, we're supposed to forget about all of that.

Yes. You could also sell the same gun, without a background check, without setting up a table at a gun show.

LOL, This is only the 1,000th time I've seen this talking point presented as clever independent thought.

    15,549 x 200 = 3,109,800

Yes. That's why I said it's poorly named.

But the goal of requiring background checks before any sale or transfer of a firearm - even between private individuals - isn't onerous or an invasion of privacy or whatever.

Yeah. And, if Trump did try to confiscate guns, we'd probably see liberals up in arms (no pun intended) that he was trying to impose an authoritarian regime.

You know what would have really improved those situations? Assault rifles.

No. It isn't. But, it wouldn't have prevented one mass shooting either.

    Improved for who?

You think people didn't protect their homes and businesses with "assault rifles"?

In a battle between the government and Bubba's Redneck Swamp Brigade, I'm gonna take the 82nd Airborne every time.
