You know what else is going to be funny? When Amazon announces that it has decided that Georgia is out of the running for their second headquarters because of the actions of the Ga. Lege with regard to Delta.

This is the second time that the Lege has done this to Delta. Previously they didn't like that Delta came out against a bill that would have discriminated against LGBT, so they yanked a different tax break. Most state legislatures don't go out of their way to screw with the biggest employer in the state.

"While this legislative punishment prevents Delta from receiving a jet fuel tax break to the tune of $50 million dollars, it also sets a terrifying precedent: that a company can be punished by the government for its decision making. What's more, the very GOP lawmakers who claimed companies such as Delta that cut ties with the NRA were doing so out of political intimidation from the left did that very thing by intimidating the company through economically damaging legislation.

    Oh, the hypocrisy."

Heh. All this sounds a lot like "sanctions" to me. Attitude in place of a real policy. "Guess we showed them, eh?"

It's politics 101. Reward your friends and punish your enemies.

Of course, I don't think Delta was an enemy, they just pissed off the NRA.

So all we have to do is convince every corporation in America to make some token gesture against a Republican sacred cow and we can end targeted corporate tax breaks? That sounds pretty great to me.

There isn't a city in the country who wouldn't gladly give anything Delta gets from Georgia and more to have them move their corporate headquarters and hub to their locale. If Delta wants to play hardball, the CEO can start taking lunches with the mayors of Houston, Dallas, Minneapolis, St. Louis, etc.

This thread would be only 4,277 pages instead of 6,772 without the d_bs.

This is the excessively rural Georgia legislature sticking it to metro Atlanta.
