O/U on how long it will be until Trump tweets about that SNL cold open?

I can speak to San Francisco specifically, because I lived there for a little while.

The difference in affluence, often separated by a few blocks, was really hard to get used to when I first arrived.

Oh, I dunno. It's all tactics now. The democrats had better wise the hell up to it, too.

the pump has been primed - more by liberals than conservatives, frankly - to thumb one's nose at authority, truth, objectivity. It should come as little surprise that a guy like Trump - and his odious team of advisers who play word games for sport, not because they give a damn about Trump or this country - has given people permission to embrace their inner contrarian asshole. I don't blame trump, per se. He's a manifestation, a Frankenstein of celeb worship, political tribalism and moral relativism/situational morality. The GOP was already great at tribalism. Trump brought the other two.

The rest is tactics. The Democratic Party is weak right now and could get weaker.

There is a strong correlation between those on the left who decry fake news who also post stuff from Occupy Democrats and ThinkProgress on their social media accounts.

That's bullshit. Boston is infinitely less racist than it was when I first moved here in 1974. Infinitely less segregated, too. Does it have racial issues? Sure, but so does everyplace else, like those Trumpian small towns in Iowa where scary black people live only in the small minds of the racists who actually do live there. Is there economic disparity in Boston? Of course. Once again, same as everyplace else. But I'll take our socioeconomic state over 95 percent of the rest of the country.

See how many Senate seats they have to defend in 2018? Ouch.

Then it ain't "infinitely" less of anything. And it's still (at least) the seventh most segregated city in America.

Would "massively less" suit you? Boston is a much better place to live in many ways in the last 40 years, and ethnic relations is one of them. It is economically segregated for sure -- just like everyplace else. The high cost of living here, especially housing, is probably our most serious quality of life issue (except for winter). That, however, is largely due to the law of supply and demand, not how people treat each other.
