The other candidates allowed him to dominate every debate, when they should have buried him. Trump even had Ben Carson conceding a point on the vaccination/autism link, for crying out loud.

 

The media gave him countless hours of free coverage. Combine that with the freakishly large pool of GOPers that helped cancel each other out and it was the perfect storm for an outsider to grab the nomination with relatively tepid support.

 

He was shameless, and regular politicians had no idea how to deal with him. He was also the Anti-Hillary, and the R voters wanted that above all else.

 

My take on this is that Trump ran primarily as an anti-Obama candidate, and thus hijacked the Republican Party.

My dad did a lot of campaigning for him in VA, and he told me that many folks complained that they wished they had a viable third party candidate to vote for.

My dad’s response and selling point to those potential voters: “Trump IS essentially a third party candidate.”

 

Was that the memorial for the girl specifically, or for all the victims?

Because, using your shrieker's logic, we really should stop with the thoughts and prayers since some mass shooting victims may be atheists.
