President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

As somebody who travels overseas frequently for business, I can testify that it is becoming more and more of a pain in the ass to get back into the U.S. Maybe that’s part of the overall protectionist strategy — make travel so onerous that we just don’t bother anymore. MAGA!

 

Trump doesn't want a DACA deal. His proposed "deal" was abhorrent and even he knew that nobody would ever agree to it. It literally criminalized DACA recipients making less than a certain amount of money per year (I think it was like $30k?). If you were on DACA and you fell below that line for a few months, you were literally a criminal. It also included a massive expansion of ICE that would guarantee they have the means to mass deport the moment they changed their mind and flipped the law, which they could do because the path to citizenship in the deal was slow and torturous.

DACA recipients and supporters would have been insane to make that deal. They're literally better off now, when the government couldn't really mass deport them even if it wanted to, than handing that option to Trump and hoping he keeps his word.

 

Couldn't Trump just be preserved in amber, and be done with him?

 

Waste of good amber. How about concrete?

 

I'd rather not risk him getting cloned and running amok in an amusement park in the distant future.

Why is it that when Trump congratulates Putin on his "re-election" or invites him to the White House, we always hear about it first from the Russians?

 

Is it common for the POTUS to make remarks like this at the Easter Egg Roll?

 

Only because you can't figure out how to make the Pentagon pay for the wall with it.
