    Nobody said otherwise (OK, maybe some Boomers have).

    But making decisions on behalf of my children that are in their best interests and teaching them to eventually make those decisions themselves is literally the entire basis of parenthood.

    There are limits. You aren't allowed to feed them rocks. You aren't allowed to beat them up. You aren't allowed to put them to work. And in Britain, you aren't allowed to overrule their doctors.

    Yes. And in most cases, parents are and should be trusted to know what “best interests” means.

    Listening to doctors is one thing.

    The government forcing you to listen to doctors as the life of the most precious person in your world hangs in the balance is something else entirely.
