Im strongly opposed to these laws, but they aren't "criminalizing protests." They are stiffening penalties on actions that were already illegal. Part of civil disobedience is accepting the consequences of breaking the law.

The guys changing your oil aren't ASE-certified mechanics. You could walk into many dealerships and get a gig changing oil.

Also my father is co-owner of a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep dealership.

Sorry. The "economic terrorism" bill in Washington casts a wide enough net to essentially prohibit any demonstrations of any kind.

No, it doesn't. And it wouldn't be interpreted that broadly. And if anyone tried to interpret it that broadly, a court would slap it down immediately.

You mean like a court that would, say, uphold that compelling you to a specific economic action is "regulating interstate commerce?"

If courts might rule anything, then all laws are meaningless. That sort of argument holds no point.

There are courts/judges all over the country who will rule in favor of whatever the laundry tells them to.

    Let's stop pretending otherwise.

    Blah, blah, blah:

Translated: We are going to dry up that federal money, and public schools will have to sink or swim on their own.

Meanwhile, we have some pals that are gonna start some charter schools and make bank.

    Jeb! out!

Not on this. Some shit is settled law.

Wait. The (state of) Washington law already makes those behaviors illegal ... this just ups the ante (at least per my reading of that story) and makes them felonious. Maybe they haven't been challenged because the penalties are minor.

I did use the word "essentially," right?

No, it won't literally ban demonstrations. You're free to do whatever, but you'll be charged with a felony if you "disrupt economic activity," which can and likely would be interpreted as literally anything. Or, at least anything that doesn't sync with the day's prevailing ideology
