"A government of laws, not men. Unless we are talking about Donald Trump. Then the law is whatever he says it is and the whole of the government should be subsumed to his avarice." John Adams, 1775

    This whole story is stupid.

She seems awful, but who the fuck cares? There are lots of awful people.

He set out to expose her, and called her husband’s work, getting him fired as well. (And, if you read the article, theirs is not a traditional marriage. She seems way more into the convicted murderer than she is into her husband.)

But he’s surprised people came after him in return? What did he think would happen?

Exploiting incompetence has been the foundation of politics forever. Literally from the beginning. Whether Trump is the apex or nadir of that, we’ll, that’s a debate.

But we are in agreement that too many in the media are trying to play hero ball. They’ve lost sight of the fundamentals, as it were. Swinging for the fences and striking out. Chucking up 30-foot jumpers and missing the rim altogether. Etc, etc. :)

If you use “laundry” in a post and you’re not talking about your own clothes, there’s no reason to think you’re serious.

Sometimes I check in on this thread just to smile at posts like this.

For as much as I disliked GW Bush, at least his lying about WMD and hocus-pocus tax rewrite scheme was understood by all. Cash refunds for votes!!!

Very true. She regularly encouraged the Internet masses to harass Muslims and anyone she thought were sympathetic to Muslims. No reason for him not to think she would encourage the same people to attack him.

But an armed society is a safe and polite society, right?

A good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun unless that good guy with a gun is a total moron and shoots someone doing the two step.

The Congress doesn't have to act on Trump's lawyers memo yet, so Republican members are within the bounds of normal political behavior if they just STFU about it. In fact, nobody has to act on it unless Mueller forces the lawyers to defend it by issuing Trump a subpoena, which he may or may not do. Trump could force the action by pardoning everyone or firing Mueller, but so far, he hasn't, and the letter is now months old. It is quite possible someone else in the administration, such as White House Counsel McGahn, saw the letter and put something in writing to Trump saying that an attempt to fight on its grounds would be vaporized by the Supreme Court. Pro tip: When presenting a legal argument for executive power, do not tell the Court the executive has more power than it does.
