I understand she helped participate in the birther nonsense, and I don’t want to discount that, but my read is that Melania is a decent person and that her presence and questions here aren’t simply for show.

 

She’s trying to distance herself far enough from his rhetoric. Let’s be real here: after he’s out of the office, the charade between the two will end and her status as public figure will be separate from him for the rest of her life. She’s gotta do what she can to salvage (or establish) her reputation.

 

I stand by every word of that, and I'm content with the kind of life that I'm leading and what I do for the side that I'm on. And I'm pretty clearly talking about sides there, not individuals.
