Right, because even if the Senate votes them down, the President can still somehow claim victory saying "Oh well, at least they gave him a vote."

This is where McConnell's hijacking of the confirmation process to a simple-majority vote can do serious damage.

Ballsy statement by Tom Cotton ...

"In a few short months, we will have ... new Senators who can consider the next Justice with the full faith of the people. Why would we cut off the national debate on the next Justice? Why would we squelch the voice of the populace? Why would we deny the voters a chance to weigh in on the make-up of the Supreme Court? There is no reason to do so. ... But the stakes are high and we cannot rush this decision. This nomination should not be considered by the Senate at this time."

Oh, wait, that's from when Garland was nominated. Forget all that crap about cutting off the national debate and the stakes being high.

McConnell deserves to be verbally harassed by protesters every time he steps out in public. And every time he tries to order on GrubHub or Door Dash, he ought to be declined because of his hypocrisy and obstructionism. He should be left to subsist on scraps of crackers, processed cheese and fourth-rate bourbon from some rat-infested distillery in his home state.

While those who upheld actions such as slavery and Jim Crow have a special place in the bowels of this nation's history, in its "modern era," a special place of national contempt should exist for McConnell, who abused every privilege, jumped through every loophole and urinated on every notion of civics and political decency. A pox on the house of him and everyone who follows his lead.

I see nothing wrong with it. The distinction between this and Memories Pizza is, Memories Pizza never actually refused service to anyone, while The Red Hen did. People can protest all they want, and people can choose to frequent the business or not. I couldn't care less. Let the free market decide, not the government fining a business to put them out of business.

Just like @Justin_Rice, distinctions, obviously not your strong suit.

I'm having this nasty daymare of Trump and McConnell greasing Sessions for the bench. Scary!

The nominee is going to be a woman in her 50s who the Federalist Society picked.

It's different when they're trying to put another Republican on the court.

    LOL.

There’s no filibuster for a SCOTUS pick.

You think Dems looking to get re-elected in West Virginia and North Dakota, or even Missouri are going to vote against a qualified nominee?
