Where do you draw the line? Do you think these patriots are justified in taking things to the next level? Would you have laughed if they assaulted him? Maybe knocked his glasses off and made fun of his limp? Would you see them as the heroes in such a story?

This isn't hard for anyone who can think without moving their lips. These people didn't touch him. They have every right to assemble and to say how they feel about him. He's a public official surrounded by members of the public in public.

The line is physical violence, unless someone is threatening physical violence, such as a Nazi advocating the extermination of Jews in a public place. Then you get punched, and you deserve it.

If these were fans screaming after Justin Timberlake, you wouldn't say shit. But because Republican politicians now have people in their ears, you're suddenly very concerned with privacy and civility. Quit your fucking whining.

The right to petition government for redress of grievances is the right to make a complaint to, or seek the assistance of, one's government, without fear of punishment or reprisals, ensured by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution (1791).

Since the conservative class hides in the bunkers and country clubs the only way to to redress of grievances is the rare time they are in public.

Nope. Nobody is covered in glory these days.
I'm all for protest. But this is ugly. One of these days, one of these people is going to really go off and get violent. I will not support such conduct.

Well, at least they didn't threaten him with Second Amendment Resolutions.

One of those other people – very fine people, by the way – already ran someone down with his car. Killed her dead, too.

That...doesn't seem that bad? It wasn't as though they turned it over to the DOJ in response to a subpoena or as part of an investigation. The AP reporters appear to have set the meeting up to get confirmation/clarification on what they had learned in their investigation. That was one among many items discussed. And they didn't provide the unit number or address--so perhaps they just wanted to show they weren't fishing.

What's more, it's not even clear that was a code to the storage unit. The story you linked notes that different memos gave different accounts of the meeting: "(The memos give two slightly different versions of the code, with one suggesting it was to access a locked parking lot at the storage facility.)"

In more positive Richmond small-business news, my wife and kids are out of town and the crowler of Triple Crossing Liquid Symphony is going down oh so smooth.
