    State governments and other subsidiary government entities cannot act in contravention of the Constitution.

    Alabama can't decide tomorrow morning it wants to reinstitute slavery.

    Yet.

    Regardless of what Spicer said regarding facts or alternative facts, that was quite possibly among the top 10 worst public speaking debacles I've ever seen. That was truly hard to watch.

    Sure. Except that in this case, the Consitution specifically limits Congress from taking action.

    The 14th Amendment and 75 years of precedence regarding it extends that protection past Congress

    That's one of the ones they don't like.

    It was preposterous. Let's forget about the "facts" or lack thereof.

    1) The basic issue is trivial to start out with, it would be forgotten by sundown if they didn't make a big deal out of it;

    2) It's the first day of the new administration; even if there's some kind of controversy, why not start out with a fairly cooperative attitude? Try to gain SOME allies in the room.

    Instead Spicer acted like a dog obsessed with spraying piss all over every single inch of the kennel to establish his dominance and make all the other dogs in the kennel his bitch. Wonder who ordered him to act like that?

    Oh, by the way, he was also completely full of shit on every single thing he said even approaching a statement of "fact."

    If we're going to start proofreading tweets, somebody better allow for an infinite amount of time.

    I mean, we have allegedly professional newspapers saying they can't afford to have editors, yet the social media world is going to self-police single-sentence tweets. Unreal.

    There's really a limit to how long they can allow teevee and photo coverage of events to come out which blazingly contradicts their version of "the facts": it'll become common wisdom (beyond what it already is) that every single thing uttered, published or otherwise excreted by the administration is absolute complete bullshit.

    Not "unproven." Not "debatable." Not "questionable." Just flat-out presumptively bullshit. Anything they say can be presumed utterly fabricated and false until proven otherwise.

    It won't be long. We're already close.

    So at some point ...

    I think the larger issue was blaming her staff for the mistake, meaning she either lied about who screwed up or she doesn't actually write her own tweets.
