The Democrats have been their worst enemy, they put forth issues of compassion, helping others, providing social safety nets, abortion, but those are in many ways luxury issues, like disposable income, the person struggling to make it says "wait, I care about that, but what about the most basic issues I face? Better jobs, better opportunities, better housing, better education/job training?"

Trump co-opted that dialogue by shoveling his crap, but I give him credit for one thing, he threw out some slogans (which were lies) and now he's corrupted the entire government and shown he has done nothing for Mr. Everyman. The Clinton campaign failed to address these most basic issues.

Now, the DNC still can't come up with a platform to address these issues.

The Democratic momentum to this point has been about grass roots candidates who have organically addressed these issues in their locales. On the national level, the message needs to be "let them keep doing what their doing" and don't get in their way.

Its all been ass-backwards, like a bloated central government dictating to the local candidates, instead of the otherway around, getting local candidates elected who on a basic level believe in certain core fundamentals, then coming up with the national message.

This is false. What about fight for $15? Every Democratic platform in my lifetime has had a long series of concrete proposals to address economic inequality and job security. They get ignored. The inevitable outcome is that sooner or later, a Democrat will be elected President on an "eat the rich" platform and they won't be kidding. Voters want simple solutions that require no work or God forbid sacrifice on their own part. Trump has broken the wonk spell on the Democrats.

I'm talking about putting that issue up front, before talking about the Dreamers and reunification. The Dems threatened to shut down the govt for the Dreamers, that was a loser.

If the Dems threatened to shut the govt. down until the $15 wage was enacted? I'm against shutting down the govt for anything, but if you want to be serious about the issue, now you are talking.

Dems rose to power fighting for civil rights, workers' rights, environmental safety. Those messages resonated with the less than fortunate. Where are those issues now?

Yarrabee Farms tried to spin that the Iowa killer they employed had checked out through e-verify. Then the story changed to he checked out using someone else's ID and Social Security number which if so they wouldn't have known him under his real name.

As it turns out they don't use e-verify at all.

"Yarrabee Farms, Rivera’s employer, issued a statement Tuesday night saying Rivera was vetted through the government's E-Verify system. However, a government archive does not indicate the Brooklyn, Iowa, farm as a participating member of the system.

On Wednesday, however, officials from the farm retracted the statement and acknowledged they did not use the E-Verify system."

Mollie Tibbetts’ accused killer is in Iowa legally, his lawyer says, calling Trump 'sad and sorry' for weighing in

Did you know that the Social Security Administration has lists of almost all illegal immigrants working in this country by employer, less the ones hanging out in the Home Depot parking lot? This data is generated when the FICA tax the employer submits for an employee SSN either does not match the ID information on the SSN or is not a valid SSN. This is called the "No-Match" project.

    https://www.nilc.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/top_ten_tips_11-07-07.pdf

This information has been available for decades but has never been used to penalize employers who ignore notices because there are literally no penalties for employing illegal aliens.

Someone should ask the Social Security Administration to release the "N0-Match" list for Yarrabee Farms, I'm betting it has dozens if not hundreds of names.

If they hadn’t been dismembered and their hearts stopped, all those babies would likely disagree that abortion is compassionate.
