I know we laugh at this stuff and all, but . . . .

DOES ANYONE AT THESE BRIEFINGS EVER ASK A FUCKING FOLLOWUP QUESTION?

Click through. Questioning on his debt for season tickets and who paid it off were specific and exacting.

I don’t think so. I’ve been thinking all day about the long term negative impact of the attacks.

The United States came together so strong at first, but in the ensuing 16 years devoured itself. We blew our treasure in a pointless war in Iraq and an impossible one in Afghanistan.

The attacks fueled an increasingly nasty rhetoric against Muslims at first and that carried over to anyone brown.

The big brother laws like the patriot act were passed, eroding our personal freedom. We will never get it back. We may not even have begun to pay the price for that.

Patriotism became (again, I guess) a political issue. Respect the flag the way society demands or pay the price. Wear the pin, politician, or you don’t love America. Support the war or you hate the troops. The anthem became something teams had to be present for, and, obviously, stand for.

We are tearing ourselves apart, and so much of it goes back to the fear of that day and fearmongering of every day since. Trump very much tapped that nerve in his campaign.

Looks like it could be happening. Trump's not going to like hearing this. Tomorrow morning's Early Turd Tweets should be truly agitated.
