Well, they better hope they're never the minority party anytime soon, because Democratic court packing is sure as sunrise when they have the trifecta. The fiction that the Supreme Court is an impartial body is gone. It'll be like the FTC and FCC. If a party has power in the other two branches, it will install a Supreme Court majority ASAP.

The US military brass has been called a lot of things, but generally liberal isn't one of them.

Update: Judge says he repeats his denial from Friday. Except that's not quite true. On Friday, he said the story was "nuts." Today, he says he has "no recollection" of the events.

If the Democrats ever get control of the court again maybe they can reverse Citizens United.

Flake wants a hearing before the vote. I'd feel a lot better if another Republican Senator would speak up. I find it hard to trust that he won't flake out.

“In retrospect, the Hillary Clinton long con of throwing the 2016 election in order to allow Donald Trump to destroy the Republican Party permanently from the inside turned out to be the most brilliant political strategy in history.”

Flake's in kind of a fascinating position here. I think he'd really enjoy screwing Trump hard on the way out and this offers him a pretty good chance to do it. His political future is tied entirely to being old-school republican/anti-trump, so it wouldn't hurt him politically.

The flip side is that despite all of his tough talk, Flake has voted with Trump 80% of the time. Still, I think he may actually do something here.
