    The idea that the late and soulless Lee Atwater arranged for Gary Hart’s yacht incident in the 1980s is not nearly as laughable as some people would once have thought. Reporting here from The Atlantic, which the Apple News app for Mac OS doesn’t make clear.

    The tactics so enthusiastically promulgated by the late Mr. Atwater, of course, begat the current political moment.
