Cruz really shouldn't have turned down this town hall

He may win, but coasting is never a good strategy no matter how red (blue) your electorate is.

Not able to watch it. Beto looking effective, or just a missed chance for Cruz?

Could be wrong, but not sure this event will sway anyone. Big question is how many undecideds are there in this race? Hard to imagine there are many who haven't made up their minds.

This is one of the most vexing questions in practical politics. The Quinnipiac polls on this election have shown one percent undecided! Yet i';d bet rest money the exit polls will show that at least 20 percent of respondents will say they made up their minds in the last two days. Voters are worse liars than the pols they vote on, so it's impossible to know which is true.

I find it interesting that people think Elizabeth Warren's DNA test might turn the election against the Democrats, but nobody's said remotely the same thing about Trump bagging for the Saudis even closer to voting day.

Forgot to share this one from Nick Ricciardi, the AP's western states politics reporter. He's accompanying a Democratic canvasser in Vegas this afternoon. Canvasser approaches house, outside of which is an unidentified woman. Following script, canvasser asks, "is Ida home?"
Woman in yard: "Yeah, but she can't talk now, she's inside smoking pot."

If these people's daily lives are not worse (and/or are, in fact somewhat better) than they were in November 2016, what would possession these people to change their minds?

The ability of people to conclude "I was right, and here's the proof" is quite powerful.

It's a little of both. It is possible that it won't but giving an hour of uncontested content is never a good thing, whether you think it's a lock or not you are going to win.

It’s all about turnout. For both sides.

This. Since the earliest days of his presidency, people have been turning out to "rallies" ... not "stops" or "visits" or "appearances" or any other similar type wording. They are proclaimed rallies. There is no reason for a sitting POTUS to be holding any kind of rally a month into taking office and pretty much monthly since then.

Or about cheating on his wife and paying hookers $130,000 to shut up about his small penis size. Or about his silver spoon life, that he inherited all his wealth and squandered a lot of it on failed business after bankrupt businesses and a fraudulent business. Or the deficit increase is the largest single year increase and as a percentage take basis the largest without a declared war.
