Mostly correct and nice summation. But there were and are just enough African American auto workers in Michigan to keep that state in play. Steelwork in Pa was a bit more segragegted in NW Pa but it was balanced out by the SE area of Pa to keep that state in play. Ohio was never more than a microcosm of the nation at large.

But the largest African American populations are in fervent republican states, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. Maryland is a blue state and Gerrymandered sufficiently to make it reliably so, but the white population is more middle than left or right. Louisiana has a large black population but is presidential republican state, except for JFK, Bill CLinton and Jimmy Carter since 1956.

What the Democrat party believes is that whites are the now a minority but the largest minority. They have been that way for so long that there is no public national point of view within that party that sees anything other than a coalition of minorities. They are wrong and continue to be wrong.

The current Republican Party offers no more for middle class whites than the democrat party does, except for lip service. If the Dems would make more people who resemble the middle the face of the party, they may be more successful. But Hillary, Pelosi, Schumer and Sanders? Women and Jews, just who Christians want as bosses

It's like the old Richard Pryor joke (paraphrasing): "A half-million black people in Washington, and none of them can vote."

Sure it does. Let's use a sports analogy. This voting bloc is UNLV basketball fans. They want someone in place who is going to bring back the glory days of Tarkanian. So they hire a guy who promises "we're going back to 1990, baby!" thinking change is coming. After eight years of nothing changing they fall for the next dope who says, "We're going back to 1990, baby!" None of them want to accept that fact that maybe, just maybe, 1990 is never coming back. They simply think the good times are coming again just as soon as they find the right guy.

"Make America Great Again" and "Hope and Change" are the same message with a different delivery system.

That’s mostly me. And that is the white educated middle class. Except as someone who is Jewish i see the blind adherence and loyalty to trump’s hate driven rhetoric as truly and personally scary. But I see a number of people who are economically similarly situated who like the republican message. I think many of them are not in favor of trump, personally, but who like the results. I just don’t understand why they don’t see those results are a continuation of the policies that were in place when trump arrived. Obama did turn the country from the Bush mess towards real prosperity.

But how can a reasonable person not see that trump is bought and paid for by Russian and Arab interests.

I respect this view, but I really fear this is actually a unicorn group. Everybody thinks this is them, but once you go issue by issue, very few people actually are in this group.

GOP politicians saying this migrant caravan is funded by George Soros and filled with ISIS members is amazingly sad.
