    In large part, I think, because there were fewer tv networks and therefore fewer analysts/opinion shows on the air.

    And more misinformation.

    It's a lot easier to see a missing piece of jewelry sitting on a freshly cut lawn than in a lawn full of weeds.

    And even among "respected" platforms, a place that will do a nice investigative piece one week will step in a pile of shit the next week, giving its critics ammunition to allege that they can NEVER be trusted.

    Two more suspicious packages discovered today, so far. One in Florida addressed to Cory Booker, one in NYC addressed to James Clapper.

    "Targeted for assassination" is a little overboard, don't you think?

    I'm not trying to minimize the situation, but it seems clear at this point that none of these "bombs" were ever intended to go off.

    Yes, I'd say it was generally more trustworthy 25, 40 and 75 years ago. Additionally, it was more trusted.

    There is more information, but less discernment and context. I'm not sure we're better off "knowing" if "knowing" means we go batshit on Twitter, which is what is happening.
