    Haven't seen the original tweet and would probably cringe if I did, but the idea that the lowish oil prices the U.S. currently enjoys are the result of Saudi and not Canadian actions may not be as off-base as the CBC implies. At least when I was working on energy issues some years ago, Saudi Arabia basically determined world oil prices, because it was the country with by far the most spare production capacity (at production costs below current prices) that it was willing to either hold out of production or put into production, depending on how it wanted to influence world oil prices. Canada was pretty much producing all it could in the short term and so didn't have much ability to influence prices in the short term.
