What did she get when she crossed into our custody? She must have looked like she needed a drink but she, according to that statement, had nothing since she was in Mexico.

Yeah, for me it's not the kids. It's the adults behind the kids, adults who turned genuine heart moments into activist movements, that give me pause. Alex Jones and InfoWars is more repugnant, no doubt. The right is worse than the left. The right is unhinged. The left is not. The left is also playing a longer, more calculated game that uses the concept of intersectionality to bind otherwise disparate political issues together.

That's how clean water in Flint - which, let's be honest, has nothing to do with our immigration laws - gets juxtaposed to a border wall. Clean water and open borders are conjoined as political issues. When progressives talk about systemic change - the way government is done - they mean not only a better process but a liberal slate of ideas and processes that effectively are designed to wrest control back from conservatives. I am not particularly more confident about progressives and their slate as I've been by conservative obstructionism.

    Like clean water?

Seems a pretty basic function of any government, left, right or center.

Mentioning clean water in an argument over immigration enforcement is about the choices we make.

We're funding one and not the other.

Clean water. Cutting down on the number of firearms to reduce the record 40,000 gun deaths this year. Not letting children in our custody be tortured to death through malign neglect. If these ideas are too far left for people, fuck 'em.

I believe I heard on NPR this morning that there are supposed to be medical checkups when these people are detained. I just find it very hard to believe that all the proper procedures were completed when a 7 year old girl dies of starvation and dehydration in US custody. I am pretty sure that this would be frowned upon if it happened in another country. But who knows, maybe she is an actor and her dad made her die for publicity , stupid libtards.

The difference between left and right today, it defined by the left. Whatever they think is good, worthwhile, important, serious, necessary or positive is what the right is against.
If you don't wholeheartedly support trump, you are an open border socialist. The right has abandoned law enforcement, they treat the military like a stage prop and they have gone after large businesses like Apple, Amazon, GM, the right is nothing but trump

Dr. Jones is the president of Union Seminary.

I guess I'd add we're not sure the death was 'entirely preventable,' at least insofar as our border procedures are concerned.

Unspool cause and effect all the way back to what brought her here if you want, but if there's no reliable intake mechanism for heat stroke at the border, for dehydration and malnutrition - especially among children - then we're derelict in our humanitarian obligations.

That said, we're arguing this on the 6th anniversary of Sandy Hook.
