I'm pretty sure your general meth head, not to mention an actual General, knows lying to the cops is going to get you in deeper than you already are.

Let's talk about disinformation, shall we?

    WHAT WE HEARD

    Vice-president Al Gore, 1998:
"Optimism prevails universally among those who are familiar with what is going on in Russia.''

    Journalist David Remnick, 1997:
''The Russian prospect over the coming years and decades is more promising than ever before in its history.''

Michael McFaul, 1999 (U.S. ambassador to Russia, 2012-14)
''Russia is a dramatically different place than it was 10 years ago . . . and just seven years into this transition, basic arrows on all the big issues are pointing in the right direction.''
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    WHAT WAS REALLY GOING ON?

    United Nations development program, 1999:
''A human crisis of monumental proportions is emerging in the former Soviet Union.''

    Alexander Solzhenitsyn, 1999:
''As a result of the Yeltsin era, all the fundamental sectors of our state, economic, cultural and moral life have been destroyed or looted. We live literally amid ruins, but we pretend to have a normal life. . . . We heard that great reforms were being carried out in our country. They were false reforms because they left more than half our country's people in poverty. Will we continue looting and destroying Russia until nothing is left?''

    Failed Crusade

    I find it interesting that . . .

When Russia was arguably at its peak WRT prosperity, world influence and scientific achievements (1965 or so), the American government and American media were boasting about how AWFUL it was over there.

When Russia was at the depths of its post WWII misery (1998-99), the American government and American media were boasting about how WONDERFUL it was over there.

That's a terrible insult to all wonderful Russians.

Trump is America. Greedy, brash, gluttonous, ostentatious, self-promoting, self-aggrandizing.

Not "wrong'' per se. Just incomplete. By implying that disinformation is the sole provenance of Russia/Soviet Union
