The 2001 Miami team had Clinton Portis, Najeh Davenport, Willis McGahee, Jarret Payton and Frank Gore.

You intentionally listed Najeh Davenport No. 2, didn't you?

Whenever you see that it's the first time something happened, the red flags should go way up.

If SI can't get it right about a Heisman Trophy winner, there's a good chance that Coach Potbelly at Podunk High is wrong that it's the first time in school history that a girls' cross country team has won a semi-sectional-sub-state meet.

For best backfield, Franco Harris-Lydell Mitchell for Penn State at least deserves a shout out

SI makes mistakes like any other outlet. Can anyone who is blasting SI say they haven't let an error get past them? Plus, I'm sure the fact checkers in this particular situation let it slip considering the writer (Lars Anderson) is about as good as it gets.

Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown and Brandon Jacobs for one year at Auburn (2003) wasn't bad, either.

You guys can have your RBs-by-committee.
Give me Herschel, Vincent, Gale or Jim Brown, and I'll take the walk-on, scout-team-RB's little brother as the backup and still truck your ass.

As for SI...it happens. Move on. (Will say this, though: Knowing what I know about the big city process, I would be completely shocked if an editor or copy editor introduced that error.)

Read this story this morning. Not to pile on, because it maybe it wasn't a mistake, but in the story the lead talks about Cam Newton and his father riding in 2009 in a "rented Chevy Corsica." The last Corsica was made in 1996. Struck me as odd.

Could have been from Rent a Wreck.
