Who said Michael Jackson wrote great music? I said he made great music. "Human Nature" and "Billie Jean" and "She's Out of My Life" and "Off the Wall" are brilliant lyrically, even outside of their nature as pop songs.

And to say he didn't make great pop music is foolish. Come on, now. Get over your biases and admit that someone you don't like did something you can respect if not enjoy.

sorry, dawg, laughed at it back in the day, laugh at it now. laughed at people who thought it was all that back in the day, laugh at people who still think it is now. the key for prince was: he didn't think he was "bad."

and if you think every critic and fan was impressed with jackson back in the 80s, you're fucking high. death was rather kind to the king of lyrical ineptness.

 

and yes, jackson was much like the hannah montana of the '80s. if you had the mindset of being a screaming little 15-year-old girl who wanted to scream your fucking head off at the sight of jackson wearing a single glove while moon walking, then yeah, he was huge with that crowd. the rest of us were listening to the scorpions, ozzie, etc.
