Yeah, at least you weren't there. I was at the Raw (and Smackdown taping) on Monday. Granted it was free and I was in a suite (which made it a good experience) but the show was terrible. The entire upper section was papered off - hard to imagine for a double show - and it was all pretty boring. Ric Flair was the only remotely enteraining thing and that match was terrible.
    Smackdown was much worse, though.

Now I know why I stopped watching WWE.

I can't believe I actually sat through the whole two hours Monday night.

    Umaga beating a diva? Yawn.
John Cena coming to Maria's rescue? Yawn (although some of the stuff he had to say was kinda funny).
Nitro beating Jeff Hardy for the IC Title? Yawn.
The main event? Yawn, until D-X came out.

The best spot of the night was Carlito and Torrie backstage. That was just hilarious and then they brought Ron Simmons out. I think that's his first appearance on TV in a while. I wonder what they're going to do with him? A feud with Shelton Benjamin? Oh joy.

But hey, at least TNA got the belt off Jarrett at their last PPV. And I'm glad Sting sort of went back to his old look.

Ron Simmons has been showing up the past few weeks to just say, "Damn!" ... then walk off. He works for WWE as an ambassador so I don't think he'll be getting involved in any storylines.

Oh, well that just shows how much I've been paying attention.

Isn't his job similar to what Arn Anderson is doing these days?

Arn is an agent backstage just like guys such as Ricky Steamboat, Michael Hayes, Mike Rotundo, Dusty Rhodes, Steve Keirn, Sgt. Slaughter and more. They've recently had some other former wrestlers come in only to leave quickly. Last three guys who came and went were Greg Gagne, Tully Blanchard and Jimmy Garvin. Barry Windham is apparently set to tryout for a spot next.

I wish I could see a Ricky Steamboat/Flair match just one more time. But that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Blanchard was not coming in as a wrestler, I think. He had been working as a road agent but had a run-in with JBL (AKA douchenozzle) in which JBL called Blanchard a drug addict, cheater, liar and hypocrite. Or that's what the rasslin' gossip rags say.

I was flipping channels on Saturday morning and saw JBL on Fox News and he was part of a panel talking about the election and, depending on what party won, which party would be better when it comes to your paycheck? JBL's a tool to the nth degree, both in wrestling and for being on Fox News.

  9. Not me. Any rematch would pale to what they did in 89-90 and cheapen it.

For those turned off by the current WWE product, here's a link to another site that deals ONLY with pro wrestling before 1984 and the whole Hulk Hogan-WWF craze. They even have a message board that lets you discuss specific regional pro wrestling like World Class, UWF, Missouri, etc.

The link to the main site is: http://www.kayfabememories.com/

But JBL is a wrestling god and a political know-it-all! ::)

When I was a kid, I used to tape any and all wrestling that was on TV. Wound up with about 35 tapes, all of which I kept for posterity.

I broke a few out tonight for fun -- just got done watching Eddie Gilbert and Sting -- billed as "From every woman's dream and every man's nightmare" -- vs. The Fantastics in the always-great UWF.

After that they had a skit with Missy Hyatt being a "Valet for a Day" for Dark Journey after Hollywood John Tatum lost to the Missing Link.

God, was there a hotter chick in wrestling back in the day than Missy Hyatt? Maybe Elizabeth. But Missy's jugs...sheesh...
