Like Jackie? Oh, wait, she's in TNA, right?

Jackie Gayda is in TNA, where she had her first baby by hubby Charlie Haas. She's been off TV for some time, though I assume at some point she'll come back.

Character development is not generally a high priority for the Divas outside the heavy hitters like Mickie James and Melina, so the bookers will flip them from face to heel and back with little if any provocation, based on what they need. And every year or so they give Victoria a push.

There's some indy hotties who can actually work they they can get like Lizzy Valentine and Daizee Haze and some others, and they can probably pick up three or four for the cost of one Diva Search winner.

  5. Edge indeed does have a messed up jaw, though I don't know to what extent. That's why he hasn't been in a match, including house shows, in about a month. He's supposed to be back full-time as of Wrestlemania.

Actually, Kerry was the world champ for three WEEKS back in 1984, but point well taken. Flair actually does a good job explaining that whole deal in his book: How David Von Erich was slated to get the title, then they gave it to Kerry when David died unexpectedly. And Flair also tells how Kerry was deep into the drugs well before he came to the WW(E)F

I got him confused with Tommy Rich, who allegedly gave head for a short title reign. Yeah, the entire Von Erich family, outside Kevil, was deep into the drugs. So was Gino Hernandez. It's no wonder that half of WCCW is dead.

If I lost a foot in a motorcycle accident but continued to rassle with a prosthetic, I'd probably be doped up on painkillers too.

Heck, are there any pro rasslers who aren't using either PKs or steroids?

Painkillers were the least of Kerry's problems. He was drunk and barefoot in that motorcycle accident. One of his drug tests would have gotten a mid-sized European country suspended. He wasn't the first brother to fall prey to it (David) or the last (Mike, Chris), but he was the most prominent.

That Kevin got through clean and well-adjusted makes him a freaking miracle.

Oh, I know the recreational drugs were all the rage in WCCW. But I seriously wonder if there's a single rassler who could pass a drug test.

There's probably a few, but yeah, the locker rooms are flowing with Somas. Meltzer's obit on Louie Spicoli had it that he'd take as many as 120 Somas before going to sleep.

It's a problem with the culture -- wrestling companies, WWE in particular, only pay a certain amount of guaranteed money, and the rest is picked up on house shows and PPVs. That downside guarantee isn't much for anyone not in the upper-card, and because they're considered contract employees, there's no benefits. So when a Joey Mercury breaks his nose on the job, he has to get back on the road as soon as possible, particularly since it was a minor miracle they even gave him a decent angle to come back on when he returned from rehab the first time. Had he missed prolonged time again, he'd be on Heat when he came back and probably on the way out.

All this talk about Mercury and all the wrestlers who use PKs and other drugs and how Vince treats guys like Mercury (as opposed to the bigger names like son-in-law HHH) only reinforces why I refuse to give WWE my money for PPVs, especially Wrestlemania.
