  1. I think the difference is ECW needed to make a statement then. It needed to do something that really put itself on the map and in the conscience of wrestling fans who were looking for something different. Was it the right thing to do? Maybe at the time it was because of the aforementioned reason. But what statement is WWE trying to make with Vince winning the belt? They are not trying to put themselves on the map like ECW was trying to do back then. I think that's what the difference is here, IMO. What do you think Inky or anyone else for that matter?

Oh, it's complete and utter BS for McMahon to wear any belt other than the one holding up his suit pants. And it is a huge screw you to the old ECW fans. But, honestly, it's not a shock. As soon as McMahon got his hands on WCW and ECW, both brands were destined to be buried.

McMahon holding the ECW belt is yet another reason I feel completely comfortable in not having watched more than 10 minutes of WWF (screw that E crap) programming in years.

Question is, which ECW dude gets the belt next?

Burke? Punk? Snitsky? Lashley? Or does someone shift to ECW from one of the other shows?

I'm sure this feud isn't over yet. McMahon's feuds with wrestlers never end after one or two seasons.

My guess is Lashley will just win it back.

Let Jarrett win the ECW title so he can make up for losing the IC title to Chyna on his way outta WWE!!!

By the way, on that RF & 4 Horseman DVD, Jarrett looks like a total tool when they show him.

ECW "Originals" comment on VKM winning the title:

Since it's on ecw.com wwe.com, I know the comments are a work ... but damn, there's a whole lotta truth behind what Dreamer and RVD said and feel.

Edge and Orton opened tonight's show with a HELL of a match. About 20 minutes, so not as long as Cena-HBK, but really good stuff. And the crowd turned Orton face, which is quite possibly the last thing McMahon needs right now.

Jarrett really struggled for most of his early career in WWE and WCW, mostly because of the WWE originally saddling him with that country singer gimmick. I saw the Horseman DVD and I laughed at Flair's statement of Jarrett looking like a "badly-dressed male stripper" during his first WCW run.

I'll admit, I hated Double J back then, too. It was certainly not a good persona.

But he really started to break out during his second WWE stint (at least a year into it, when they dropped Tennessee Lee and let him just be himself, as well as when he cut his hair and changed his trunks). He really hit his stride in WCW, it was one of the few good things about WCW after 1998.

    A plea to Mr. McMahon:

    Vince,

After how stellar the in-ring action has been on your shows recently, with the 45-minute match on RAW between Cena and Michaels, an outstanding Backlash, and a stellar RAW-opening match between Edge and Randy Orton, please, I repeat, please do NOT start a main event program between Cena and The Great Khali. It will set you back years on match quality.

    A concerned citizen.

I know I'm a day late, but I finally watched Backlash this evening (I'll be watching RAW later tonight or tomorrow) and I gotta say, it was tons better than WrestleMania. All the matches held my interest (even the women's match) and the two main events ('Taker vs. Batista; Cena/Michaels/Edge/Orton) were off-the-charts good. The crowd was popping for everything, which always raises the level of a show a notch or two. If you didn't catch it yet, I recommend buying the replay or downloading it off one of the torrent sites I've mentioned earlier on this thread. Excellent show.

Is Lashley really hurt? They mentioned on RAW that he was seeing the same doctor as HHH.

Also, I'm not looking forward to Cena-Khali. As a monster character, I'm fine with Khali. Huge guy, ugly -- fits the bill well. But he's horrible to watch. No wrestling talent at all. No mic skills. I just can't imagine he and Cena putting together anything worth watching.
